東京タワーは東京のシンボルとして日本人に人気が高いが、最近では浅草、秋葉原などと並んで外国の観光客からの人気も高い。２００８年１２月で５０周年になる。
大展望台の高さは１４５M、特別展望台の高さは２５０メートルになり、これらの展望台で初日の出を見ることで大晦日には昼過ぎから行列が出来る。

December 2008 marks the 50th anniversary.
The height of
the main observatory is 145 meters, and the height of the special observatory
is 250 meters, and on New Year's Eve people line up from noon to see the first
sunrise from these observatories.
