"The distinctive Cocoon Tower can be seen immediately after exiting the west exit of Shinjuku Station. The cocoon represents the silkwork's cocoon, but it also represents the building where young people are protected before they leave the nest.
This tower houses Tokyo Mode Gakuen, which mainly teaches fashion design and beauty, HAL Tokyo, which teaches games and digital video, and Shuto Medical School, which teaches nursing and caregiving, as educational facilities for young people before they ente society.
Tange Urban Design HP: What was required was a building that had never
been seen before. "Of course, classes are important because it is
a school, but we think that what is even more important is break time and
after - school time. It is important that something happens on campus,
such as discussions and chatting , consulting teachers, and romance, and
that is why students have meaning when they come to school. However, in
the case of high - rise buildings, you don't know what is going on on the
floor above. It is important to know what is going on. In the past, elementary
and junior high schools were usually three stories high. That's why, although
this time it is a high - rise building, the interior is designed to be
three stories high. - - - "
