竹下通りは中学・高校の修学旅行生、韓国・中国からの外国人観光客などで年中混雑しているが、週末はこれに加えて首都圏の中高生が来るので大混雑する。

外国人観光客の観光ルートは原宿駅付近のコギャルファッションの女の子の写真を撮り、竹下通りを歩くのがパターンになっている。

この通りの意外な特色は、高校生以下が主たるお客になる為に物価が安いことである。例えば、通りに入ってすぐ左に「OSドラッグ」があり、更に「百円ショップのダイソー」、「マックドナルド」、原宿駅前に戻ると「コーヒーやロールパンがサービス価格で提供されているIKEA」がある。


Shopping, dining, etc. for foreign visitors

Takeshita Street is crowded all year round with middle school and high school students on school trips, as well as foreign tourists from Korea and China, but on weekends, it is also crowded with middle and high school students from the Tokyo metropolitan area.

The pattern for foreign tourists is to take pictures of girls in girly fashion near Harajuku Station and then walk down Takeshita Street.

A surprising features of this street is that the cost of living is low because high school students and younger are the main customers. For example, as soon as you enter the street, there is "OS drug" on the left, then there is "Daiso, 100yen shop", "McDonald's" and if you go back to Harajuku Station, you will find "IKEA" where coffee and bread rolls are offered at service prices.
